Open Water Certification
Dive Maui offers 3 day PADI certification classes. SDI is available on request. If you don't have three days to put towards your certification you might want to look into our 2 day PADI Scuba Diver program or we can take you on a 4 hour scuba diving experience through our Intro Diving program.
Classes consist of academics and water performance in compliance with agency standards.
The first half of the day is spent focusing on the instructional segment of the class. If you contact us in advance we can arrange for a large portion of this time to be spent in the comfort of your home or hotel room. There is a break for lunch and two dives are completed at a shallow coral reef in the afternoons. This gives students a total of 6 ocean dives.
Dive Maui believes that to be a good diver in the ocean a diver must be trained in an ocean environment. We do not train our divers in a pool. Our ocean is friendly and we have pool like conditions with tropical fish, turtles and coral reef to view each day. We begin training in shallower water and as we progress with training and students become more comfortable we increase depth and performance challenges. Since our reefs here are shallow and ends at around 30 feet few training dives are done in deep water.
Our patient and seasoned instructors have not hundreds, but thousands of dives under their belt in varied environments. They will take all the time you need to learn skills and academics. Most of our students are successful and have fun learning to dive.
The class includes free use of gear, registration fee for the certification card, 6 ocean dives and free use of books. We also have a one day pro-ration where if you decide after the first day that you for one reason or another do not want to continue we refund 60% of the total course charge. This gives tentative divers an opportunity to try the sport.
Open Water Referral Dives
If you have completed portions of your certification elsewhere and need to finish your class we gladly accept referral students from all agencies. Your instructor will provide you with a form indicating what you have completed and we will take up from there and finish your class in warm, clear, tropical waters where you can see fish, sea turtles and enjoy the trade winds and sun. If you need all of your ocean dives the cost is $139.00 and it will take 4-5 hours over 2 days. If you are anywhere else in your training please email or call for exact procedure and rates. Cost includes any instruction needed, use of gear and any card fees assoicated with certification. Reservations are required in advance.
Scuba Diver Certification
The Open Water Scuba Diver certification will give you a PADI certification that allows you to dive at most resorts. It requires that you have a Divemaster with you during your dives. As most Dive Boats include Dive Masters to guide the divers this certification allows you to dive in great diving locations all over the world. It can also be put towards a full PADI Open Water Certification in the future. It follows the same format of the full PADI Open Water Certification except for the last day. You will get a total of 4 ocean dives and the Open Water Scuba Diver certification for $129. Cost includes any instruction needed, use of gear and any card fees assoicated with certification. Reservations are required in advance.
